So, you are thinking about becoming a digital nomad? Being able to work remotely and from multiple locations requires a reliable and affordable solution. Although your phone already provides a hot-spot connection, it is usually not optimized for more than one device. Having multiple services requires patience and some dropping of signal.

Enter the dedicated cellular modem. These have been around for years as backups to critical services like ATMs, alarm systems and backup communications. These have evolved and become more personal, and versatile. Cellular home internet options include providers like T-Mobile Home Internet and Verizon 5G Home Internet. These services offer internet access using cellular networks, providing alternatives to traditional cable or fiber connections. Other non-cellular options for remote connectivity are satellite based like Hughs and Starlink. Even though these options are more expensive they are less restrictive to locations, while cellular modems require a cell tower signal, these only require a clear line of sight to the orbiting satellite.

The following examples of providers are the most cost effective, remember that the reception is dependent on cell tower signal:

T-Mobile Home Internet:

T-Mobile provides a 5G home internet service that uses a modem or gateway device to connect to their cellular network. It's designed to be a fixed wireless internet solution, similar to how your phone connects to the internet, but for your home. https://www.t-mobile.com/home-internet

Verizon 5G Home Internet:

Verizon also offers a 5G home internet option, similar to T-Mobile, with a focus on fast speeds and reliable coverage. https://www.verizon.com/home/internet/
